Fire has long provided humans with a sense of safety, warmth, and emotional grounding.

By translating its core sensory qualities into therapeutic design, the design aims to reduce fear-based reactions and promote emotional regulation.

Individuals with PTSD often exhibit hyperactivity in the amygdala, a region associated with fear processing, and reduced activity in the prefrontal cortex, which plays a key role in emotional regulation. This imbalance may contribute to heightened anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and difficulty returning to a calm state.
